The First SIMC Conference

The 1st SIYC was held September 4-6, 1987 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the Inn on the Lake Hotel.  The theme was “… And Sow The Word” taken from John 1:1.  Over 200 delegates from Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas enjoyed the fellowship, inspirational music and the ministry of the young ministers.  The expenses for the convention were $1,969.00 and income, $4,041.55.
The Chairpersons were: Min. Isaac Carter and Andrea Sylvester. 
The speakers included:
Rev. Dr. Robert C. Williams,  Min. Dale Fontenot,  Min. Aquila Riggins,  Min. Victor Simon,  Min. Isaac Carter,  Min. Roy Conwell,  Min. Isaac Riggins,  Min. Gerald McWashington and Rev. Henry Johnson.

Since then, the Southern Interstate Youth Convention has been held every Labor Day weekend in the following locations:  Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
